Timepass is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language teen comedy film directed by Dhiraj Kumar and produced by Aarthi Adhikari and Viki Rajani under the banner of Aanand L Rai's Colour Yellow Productions. The film features an ensemble cast, comprising of Avi Singh, Nikhil Chinnappa, Malavika Mohanan, Khan Asif, Deepak Dobriyal and Sai Lokur. It tells the story of five friends as they find themselves in various stages of relationships with girls who don't seem to like them back. The film was released on 18 July 2015 to mixed reviews from critics and received mixed feedback from audiences. However, it emerged as a box office success. Timepass tells the story of five friends who are college students. The protagonist of the film is Sunil Chauhan, who is in his final year at Delhi University's St Stephens College. He lives with his father, stepmother and two step sisters who are also his classmates at St Stephens College. It's St. Stephens Day at St Stephens College and it's time for Sunil Chauhan (Avi Singh) to propose to Ananya (Malavika Mohanan). Nervous as usual, he asks Ganpati Bhathena (Nikhil Chinnappa) to make him sound cool on stage while proposing to Ananya. Ganpati Bhathena is a character from the college. He is known for being a madman and has made a sensational entry in many of Sunil's proposals including his first love, Pooja (Khan Asif). On stage he proposes to Ananya as Ganpati Bhathena, as opposed to the original intention to propose as himself. In an attempt to sound cooler he says that he was playing "Ganpati Bhathena". The wordplay works and Ananya accepts. Ananya faces problems because she is unsure about marriage and wants to take a year long break from studies prior to getting married. Sunil's family is very traditional and his parents want him to get married as soon as possible. His father had plans to send Sunil on a tour of Europe after he graduates from college so that he can meet a better girl and his stepmother, who has always been against Sunil, secretly orders a cake for Ananya, expecting her not to come to Aastha's party. However Sunil sneaks off with Ananya to Aastha's party. There also is Pooja, Sunil's ex-girlfriend who was dumped by him because Ananya appeared on the scene. She came to meet Sunil, but he didn't feel like talking to her. During the party Sunil gets drunk and tries talking to Aastha, but ends up saying something very vulgar, although he doesn't remember it the next morning. Ananya is hurt and breaks up with him. Sunil feels bad about hurting Ananya and confesses everything on Facebook which ends up getting viral with every one making fun of him. Sunil decides to call off the breakup and goes to meet Ananya at St Stephens College where he sees her having a good time with her friends after a football match between St Stephens and Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR).
